St Peter’s Church, Staines

This parish church, dating from the early 1900s, had been built with a rich but uncompromisingly dark palette of materials. The interior was gloomy and somewhat foreboding; no doubt this came in useful when it was used as a location for the film The Omen in 1977! Our scheme reverted to classic principles; setting out a hierarchy and layering of details – each aspect being illuminated to celebrate the form and drama of the building but also to provide good levels of light and increase the overall comfort and sense of lightness for the users.
